The paramout value of being a human is that we can master our destiny and make a difference in, and even transcend, the ups and downs of the infinite life.

Q: Master, what is the meaning of being a human?

A: Being a human means we have thinking ability, which is the biggest difference between mankind and other animals; and it means we have mixed feelings of happiness and bitterness, while beings in heaven only feel happiness and beings in hell only feel bitterness. The paramout value of being a human is that we can master our destiny and make a difference in, and even transcend, the ups and downs of the infinite life.

Q: I prostrate myself before you, O Master! I am betrayed by my previous lover and feel very desperate. I hate him and cannot help thinking about seeking revenge. Master, please instruct me.

A: Your hatred evolves from love, then what is love? What's the point of being attached to love if it vanishes and changes so easily?

Q: I prostrate myself before you, O Master! Having been influenced by negative moods all these years, I am diagnosed with depression. How do I lift myself out of this trouble?

A: This gloomy situation does not befall you overnight. So it takes time and steps for you to break out of the depression. Learn right thinking first and continue to practice it. As you persist in ushering brightness into your mind, the darkness will vanish at last.

Q: Master, I feel very bad when others achieve success and fly high yet I fail again and again. My talent is yet to be recognized and my ambition yet realized. What should I do?

A: When you are frustrated for all your talent, you should examine inward for your lack of virtues and merits rather than blaming external factors. And your complaints can do nothing but to impair your blessings. As an old Chinese saying goes, whenever things do not go our way, we should find the fault within ourselves. Do not set yourself against external circumstances. Rather, reflect on your own behaviors and thoughts and improve yourself. If the cause and condition is yet to ripen, you can work hard to enhance your ability and cultivate your merits. Do not be eager for instant success.
