President Xuecheng of the Buddhist Association of China Attended the Academic Forum on Buddhist Culture and the One Belt, One Road National Strategy

The Academic Forum on Buddhist Culture and the One Belt, One Road National Strategy jointly organized by the Center for Buddhist Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and Ningbo Municipal Office of Ethnic and Religious Affairs was convened in Ningbo on the morning of December 16, 2015. Ven. Master Xuecheng, president of the Buddhist Association of China, attended the opening ceremony with a speech.

President Xuecheng said in his speech that Ningbo is not only an important port of the ancient Maritime Silk Road, but also the forefront for China's reform and opening up, with its long history, a galaxy of talents, economic prosperity and social harmony. More importantly, it is endowed with profound Buddhism culture and rich historical resources. Since the ancient times, Ningbo has been a promising place for the promotion of Buddhism. The Buddha relic enshrined in Ningbo Ashoka temple shows the predestined relationship between Ningbo and Buddhism as well as the deep blessings to the people of Ningbo. It is of great importance for Ningbo to holdthe Academic Forum on Buddhist Culture and the One Belt, One Road National Strategy as it helps further the exploration and organization of and research on Buddhist culture and serve the building of the Belt and the Road. It also helps to give full play of the spiritual power and wisdom of Buddhist culture to facilitate Ningbo’s participation in the building of the One Belt, One Road initiative and benefiting from it.
