Tracing Buddha’s Path to Enlightenment

The 8th day of 2nd lunar month is the day we commemorate Buddha’s Renunciation. Around 6th century BC, the Buddha left his palace in his quest for the ultimate truth of life. Ever since his enlightenment, the torch of Buddhism has shed light on numerous lives. Looking back at history, we find that every step forward in the progress of human civilization is accompanied by the confluence of civilizations, which, inevitably necessitated translation between different cultural literatures. It’s safe in saying that the history of Buddhism in China—the adopted homeland of Buddhism, is the history of translation of Buddhism literature.
