Stories about an important Dharma sister who helped me get through difficulties in my life and accompanied me to an enlightened life.

Inthe Avatamsaka Sutra, there is one charming sentence that I love. It says: “All the sentient beings are the roots of trees while the Buddhas and Buddhisattvas are the blossoms and fruits of wisdom.” It is obvious that the roots contain the nutritious ingredients which can support and nourish us to endure or be graceful, and without the roots, the blossoms or the fruits can not exist. In numerous lives, all kinds of people have acted as our roots. Today, I just want to share with you the story about one of them.

Please let me introduce her to you.

Firstly, she used to be my student when I established my own training school after my graduation from university in 2006.

Secondly, she is my business partner. In 2010, we ran a startup together and we had no dispute during its operation.

Thirdly, she is my fellow practitioner. In 2007, we went to a refuge together. In 2012, we were taught how to practice the Great Compassion Mantra by a master, and from then on we began to chant the mantra 21 times every day. Because of her, I started to take part in the Xizhimen Buddhist group and had the chance to visit the Longquan Monastery.

Last but not least, she is my family. This is also the part that I wish to address more. She witnessed my wedding ceremony in 2010 and gave me blessings, then and accompanied me through out all the darkness resulting from my divorce in 2014. When my father passed away 6 years ago, she not only encouraged me to be more composed to deal with all the family issues, but also led all the colleagues in our company to chantthe Great Compassion Mantra to dedicate to my father. I decided in the last year, more or less on a whim, to take part in the postgraduate exam at UIBE (University of International Business and Economics) for my MBA degree, since I wanted to improve my ability at management. However, the tuition for this major was 200,000 RMB in total for a two year course. When I hesitated, she assertively told me, “Don’t worry about the tuition, I can spend all my entire fortune and give away my last shot in the locker, and even smash my iron pots and pans into pieces and sell them for you, to go to school. ……” You can imagine my appreciation. I didn’t let her down, and after 51 days of hard study, a preliminary test, a second test, an interview, and an exam, I became a postgraduate student at UIBE. This is the graduation photo taken this August.

I guess it’s the time to tell you who this person is now. Can you guess? Yeah, you got it, she is in the frame, the one in the middle of the picture. Her name is Huang Qin.

The wall has become famous for the red letters on it, not only at UIBE, but also at other universities. Very beautiful, isn’t it? Well, I mean the words and the atmosphere, not the figure. That is also the words I want to say to her, who has been playing an important role in my life, like a sister, like a friend, like a mother, sometimes like a soul mate, or even like a young baby; Meeting you was luckiest thing that ever happened to me. You are my root to give me energy and nutrition and accompanying me through misery or happiness. To take this opportunity, I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart and that I wish we have a better future. I should also say thanks to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas’ protection, blessing, and guidance so that I can meet you in this life, after so many years of waiting and praying, thank you.
