June 4th, 2018【Longquan Update】 On May 29th and 30th, the monastic community of Longquan Monastery held 2018 Receiving Vowing Sticks Ceremony and Summer Retreat Ceremony respectively. Ven. Master Xuecheng encouraged all Bhikhus and Samaneras to cultivate themselves diligently during the 90 days of retreat. To avoid treading on grasses and insects and getting distracted when going out, Buddha prescribed that the monastic community should minimize outings and stay at one place for diligent practice during April 16 to July 15 on the lunar calendar. The summer retreat, which enables the Sangha to practice diligently, is why Buddha Dharma can exist in the world for a long time.
