Master Xuecheng, President of the Buddhist Academy of China gave a lecture entitled "Research on Precepts of the Nanshan Vinaya Sect" to monastic students at Fayuan Monastery lately. He explained how precepts were born in the Buddha's time, spread in the period of Sectarian Buddhism in India, and evolved into the Nanshan Vinaya Sect in the mainland China. He further explained how the vinaya embody the spacial and temporal factors of ancient Indian society, accommodating feature and its localization in China.
