For National Day holiday, October 1-7, Longquan Monastery has arranged a series of religious and cultural activities, including bowing for Emperor Liang Jeweled Repentance, chanting sutras, and offering vegetarian meals to the Sangha followed by a Dharma talk. The monastery witnesses caring volunteers who choose to contribute here during the holiday. Some serve tea for followers at the Wanyuan Tea Shed, some stand on the roadside to maintain order and safety, some wash vegetables in preparation for kitchen use, and others patiently receive guests coming to pray for blessing. Volunteering at Buddhist monasteries has become many people’s choice to spend their holiday.
