Led by Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counselor of Myanmar, a Burmese delegation yesterday visited Famen Temple, a monastery with over one thousand years of history. With devoted and pious hearts, members of the delegation offered incenses and worshiped Buddha’s sarira relics in the underground palace. Ven. Master Xuecheng, Abbot of Famen Monastery, gave a small statue of Shakyamuni Buddha as a gift to Aung San Suu Kyi with his best auspicious wishes. Aung San Suu Kyi, who is a devoted Buddhist, pointed out that she is willing to promote friendly communications between the Buddhist communities in China and Myanmar. Buddhism will always act as a firm bond for the friendly relationship between China and Myanmar.
