November 11, 2015, 30st day of the Nineth lunar month, is the birthday of Bhaishajyaguru (Medicine Buddha). Ven. Xianshuang led the Sangha and laypeople in offering lights in the Jianxing Hall. Ven. Master Xuecheng once said in a Dharma talk that the lamp represented wisdom. The purpose of offering lights and passing on lights is to keep the light of inner wisdom from going out, to guard our heart with Dharma, and to keep our heart still and even brighter.
